Life of Pie (Trailer)

I will definitely watch this movie. I read the book about a year ago and I liked it because it was very simply written but had very interesting themes. I'm so excited. And look at those ocean scenes! They're so beautiful. They should be because the book has very subtle yet powerful magic.

Manila Killa - Strobe (Deadmau5 cover)

"On his birthday, the young Manila Killa drops his take on Deadmau5′s famous “Strobe.” The original melody and chords from the mau5 are enough to power any remix, but MK throws in all sorts of twists and turns in his energetic electro house reworking, and compliments it well with vocals from Eva Simons’ “I Don’t Like You.” It’s an interpretation that’s unique to his own style, and a pretty awesome way to celebrate the day. Happy birthday Chris!"

I've been wanting to do this for a while already but never had enough time and energy. Because it is a Sunday and it is too rainy to go out, I had time to work and...

LG Optimus Me - New Phone from Globe

I got a new phone! It's actually free from the line and it's a cheapo Android phone. LG Optimus Me.  Needed a new one because the previous phone had the worst e-mailing system in the universe. I have accepted the fact that I don't deserve pricey phones because I lose them a lot. Just fresh into college I already lost a Samsung Galaxy and a slew of other cheaper mobile phones. Let us put our hands together and pray that this one will last me 5 years because only then will I prove that I don't have a congenital defect.

Because Instagram has an Android version (also Twitter), I am assuming that everyone of my followers need to know where I am and what I'm doing all the time. Here are some photos to show my complete transformation into a social media freak.

Just found this on our dorm network so I got to watch the first season. Awesome show.

Those are just some photos. My Instagram is @leolutero. Haha. I feel so creative.

into the wagon of like-fests

I never imagined myself sending chat blasts asking people to like certain content on Facebook.

But of course, the world is a constant antagonist of the morals we carry so I had to turn myself into one of "them", the guys who think "Likes" signify genuine adoration.

I am unadulteratedly BEGGING you to like my status here.

If you actually read the status, you might notice my unusual adoration for organic chemistry. To clear things up, this is a quiz for our class. I had to share a concept that I think my non-nerdy friends should learn.

Go LIKE IT! and if you can, leave awesome comments, reblog (send me links), or just blog about how wonderfully enlightening and layman this status is. Thank you guys! You awesome!

Now selling stuff online

Check out my online store here. (Hosted by Sulit.com.ph)

I've always been fascinated with the concept of online shopping and how it rests on the concept of trusting fellow humans and conscience. Online shopping in the Philippines is rapidly growing in popularity, proof is the huge number of online stores that open on Facebook, Multiply, etc.

Of course, I don't want to be left out plus my dorm is becoming a museum of things I don't use anymore. In our family runs a genome that disables us to let go of things. The consequences of such include the increase of surface area in our dwelling for dust and other creatures to inhabit - but it also offers something positive. If one is bored, one can just dig and dig and have sporadic gasps of "oohs" and "aahs" at things one could have never imagined existed (One could be you, me or the occasional neighbor).

I am particularly against this practice of hoarding so coupled with the desire for extra money, you get my online store which is basically a plethora of things I am willing to let go of (at a price)! Things that appears to be of no use to me but still carry my confidence that they will be able to find purpose elsewhere. Just go to this link and don't forget to hit Ctrl+D or Cmd+D to bookmark. Yay!

My first listing is a book by G. W. Bush's daughter, Jenna Bush. It is Ana's Story. Check it out in my page for more details. It's a hardcover first edition and I'm selling for cray-cray cheap when compared to the often unbeatable price of BookDepository.com! =)) It was the book nearest me when I decided to start an online store so I put it up. More items will of course come out soon!

Payment methods I accept are: Paypal (with a little merchant charge though), Globe G-Cash and bank deposits.

If this was the opening of an actual physical store, I'd have the following playing on the store speakers:

Found this song through an online magazine called Bastard's playlist. Check them out here. If you appreciate modern avant-garde art that will get you asking questions, you should definitely follow Bastard magazine!

Song of the Moment: "Marathon" and a misplaced rant

Here is the song of the moment. Young Liars "Marathon"

Not a good place to be ranting about this but let me give you sneak peak of what could be a long blog post on dissatisfaction.

I am having a lot of problems with Globe Telecom and their pretentious customer service channels. They'll say "Yes, we are working on it" but you can definitely feel they have no clear intentions of giving you a good response. Instead, they just give you a long chain of incoherent numbers and letters that serve as your proof that it's in their system.

This is one valuable advice on life I will give you now: At all costs, avoid transacting with the Globe Customer Hotline (via phone, e-mail or whatever). Sucking it up (or moving to the other network) might do you better.

Gotye dead - or just another joke

From CNN's iReport, a citizen journalism site:

A few Google search pages later, couldn't find another article announcing the passing of the "Somebody That I Used To Know" singer. I am convinced this is a very, very bad joke from someone either mis-informed or very famished for fame.

UPDATE: Gotye is alive and kicking. The hoax was sky-rocketed by the iReport from CNN. Again, iReport are reports submitted by CNN readers, and therefore not automatically vetted by CNN. Looks like a group of people suddenly just decided to tell the world that the singer is dead. Crazy humans on the planet!

Man-date at an Arcade

Earlier today, an argument ensued inside my head: "To go out and buy a computer mouse or not?"

After a few hours and a bath later, I was ready to go with my roommate who was very enthusiastic about using his LRT card again. What do you do when you anticipate another school week of confinement? You go out.

So we went out and I hauled all the computer periphery I needed (a cheap mouse and a cheap pair of earbuds as replacement to the ones I lost). My roommate is an arcade-goer and I wasn't but I was in the mood to try something unusual. If you have a friend who always whines when you're having fun at the arcade, you already know me well.

Upon entrance, I spotted this trivia game and I convinced my roommate to try it with me. We were about to play against each other until a random girl joined in. Now I understand the thrill of arcades: going against total strangers! I was intent to crush that random girl's morale. Very inspired, I won first place. My roommate came in close second. The girl got third. Haha. Run home, random woman, run!

But my roommate Rej (pronounce "Rei") wasn't into being quizzed some more so we proceeded to the next less academic game.

Sorry for the blurry photo. I think this was House of the Dead 4 or something that sounded as depressing. It was a gory game where one of the bosses is a rotting green pile of fat. Rej was always ahead of me and he knew every turn in the game. Obviously, he was in his zone while I was awkwardly shooting at every moving thing I sense while sweating profusely.

But Rej had to notice my innate skill at handling fake guns. Unknown to many, one of my darkest desires is to hold a gun in a combat and shoot enemies. I was thinking about joining the military because of this but it was never something I pursued because I had no firm grasp of my actual intentions.

He exchanged the points he already had and some of our points to obtain this deformed semblance of an owl.

It couldn't be an owl. It's purple.

Arcades give an illusion of physical exercise so we headed off to Burger King to reload on calories we felt like we lost.

It was a good meal. I can't really review fast food as the taste is so carefully crafted to suit millions of tongues. Probably regained all that I lost shaking the hard plastic guns for reloading.

Note: Please do not ever cite the resemblance of this Sunday to the sweet, arcade dates often inserted in movies to begin a wild love story between two characters. This was definitely a fun man-date. A man-date!
